How do I submit a medical need?

If a provider will not submit a medical need to America's HealthShare on your behalf, you can submit the need to America's HealthShare using the bill submission form in the Member Care Portal. 

Before submitting the medical need for sharing, please ensure you have all the required information and supporting documentation, such as an itemized bill and receipt. You may need to request this information from your provider. Failure to include all the required information may result in a delay in processing your medical need or in sharing ineligibility. 

To submit your medical need to America's HealthShare, log into your Member Care Portal.

On the menu, click on Medical Bills, then select “Submit a Medical Need.”

IMPORTANT NOTE: Only submit one medical need at a time. If you have multiple needs for multiple dates or services, submit each date of service separately. 

 

1.   Select the type of need to be submitted.

2.  Select the Member who incurred the medical need from the dropdown list

3.  Indicate if you already paid your bill with the provider and are submitting for reimbursement.

4.  Add a short description of the need. For example, “Flu visit.”

5.  Using the itemized bill for reference, input the provider’s name as it appears on the bill.

6.  Enter the date of service.

7.  Enter the total amount charged by the provider.

8.  If any funds were paid to the provider, input the amount you paid.

9. Upload all the necessary supporting documents, such as an itemized bill and receipt.

10. Agree to the acknowledgment that you included all the required information necessary to process your medical need for sharing.

NOTE - Failure to include all the required information may result in a delay in processing your medical need or in sharing ineligibility.

Click Submit

 

Once you click submit, your need will be submitted for processing. You will receive a message in the ShareStream with your submission ID number. You can use this number as a reference before your need submission is assigned a bill number.

Your submitted medical need is visible to you in the Submitted tab of your bill monitor. (Medical Bills >  View Current Bills)

NOTE - Only Member-submitted needs will appear in the Submitted tab. If a provider submits a need on your behalf, it will appear in the "Processing" tab once received in our system and assigned a bill number. 

 

Once your need is sent for processing and assigned a bill number, we will notify you in your ShareStream, and your need will move from the Submitted tab to the Processing tab in your bill monitor.
